Paris is about to get a new floating hotel called Off-Paris Seine. Located in the heart of Paris along the Quai d’Austerlitz, this elegant three-star property will float gently in the middle of the Seine beside the Charles de Gaulle Bridge. Beginning May 1, visitors to Paris can enjoy “The City of Lights” from one of 54 rooms and 4 suites. Built in Normandy, the converted catamaran will feature a bar and lounge, as well as a luxurious 50-foot swimming pool.
And for anyone who may have concerns about the cleanliness of the River Seine, rest assured that conditions are much improved. After a $10 million, 3-month clean up effort commissioned by Paris authorities that included repairing the canal walls and renovating the locks, the city is committed to keeping the Seine clean moving forward. An added bonus is that there are now 35 different varieties of fish in the River, which at it’s lowest point had dropped down to a mere two.
And when it’s time to explore by land, delight in a hip and lively Parisian neighborhood! Technically part of the 11th arrondissement, Off-Paris Seine is located in an area enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Savor a glass of wine on the expansive rooftop bar at Le Perchoir, with it’s 360 degree view of the capital; step back to the 1920’s at the Moonshiner, an authentic, Prohibition-era Bar; experience one of the best classic Bistros in Paris at Le Bistrot Paul Bert; shop at Marche Bastille, one of the top open-air markets in Paris, for fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, clothing and souvenirs.
